VW BusStop Festival - top or flop?

Has anyone been to the VW Busstop festival in Crowborough this weekend? Heard it's been a bit of a washout - drove past it earlier and it looked completely empty.

Then I heard The Charlie Rivers Band had to cancel their set because of licensing problems (just seen on Facebook they had to cancel because of sound infringments because they can't play past 11pm and they have another gig to go to).
So let us know if you've gone and if you have any photos please post them up!

They do and doesn't disturb them at all, In fact they are supportive of the festival. Some local residents also come over for a drink and watch a band or two. Just like everything, you cant please everyone..

ReportMainly the camp site, they do complain each year but refuse to talk about the event. Mind you, they complain about the Fireworks night too.. The police did try to stop the event even before it started and made it quite clear when they came to the cafe on Weds. The abatement was drafted last week on fears that it had become too popular so any opportunity to pull the plug would have been taken. Police were also setting up roadside checks on Sunday a.m either side of the entrance on A26. The authorities call the shots on events, WDC are ok, its just one officer from Bexhill who disproves of the event and the type of people attending.

ReportWho complained about the noise then? Was it really that noisy? It did appear to me that it was noiser than last year but was it really so intrusive to justify a noise abatement notice?
Mind you I know the Police where active at Goldsmiths on Friday evening due to the amount of younger people hanging araound.

ReportHi, Yes, rain rain rain!! We had it consistant through Sat daytime which kept many from coming. However, we had many VW campers turn up on Friday and most of them stayed right through and some are still going now at the 2nd part of the festival in Eastbourne. As for the music, we were licensed til 1am on Fri and 2am on Sat. The stage and sound was big enough to cater for wembly and after several complaints, we were forced to cease the music at around 11.30pm on Fri. Following this and with some concerns from some residents, I was served an abatement notice which overruled the license. This meant we could not play after 11pm on Sat, but we managed to get the full line up in on Sat by reducing play set slots. All in all, we had a great time, raised some money for charity and brought hundreds to the town. Hope some forum readers made it.
