CROWBOROUGH junior tennis week proved to be a smash hit once again.

There were 122 entries over the five day event, with some of the best tennis talent from across the area on show.

Dan Slade, head tennis coach, organised the event with Amanda Thompson, the referee.

"It was a very successful event and I know the LTA were pleased with it," Slade said.

"It's a great advert for the club and hopefully we can improve next year.

"We had 40 per cent more entries than last year and that is partly due to getting Tecnifibre as a sponsor. They provided all the prizes and advertised the tournament as well. There was a very good standard of tennis and the winner of the 10 and under, Blu Baker, looked like a really good player. He's almost of a national standard – he looks very promising."

Results: nine and under (winner and runner-up): Sam Nicholson, Leyton East; under 10 and under: Blu Baker, Hannad Ansari; 10 and under girls: Connie Howard, Saffron Dowse; 12 and under boys: Guy Brown, Benedict Hawkins; 14 and under boys: Oliver Dixon, Roland Jones; 14 and under girls: Charlotte Brown, Alexandra Mahew-Lewis; 16 and under boys: Pierre Wills-Packer, Joshua Pollard; 18 and under boys: Mikhail Leys, Elliot Jones (Crowborough).
