Crowborough's Council Tax is going up again. According to The Courier we are pleased about this! There was a small article in this weeks Courier saying that residents will be pleased that Crowborough Town Council is only increasing there part of the Council Tax by less than 1.4%. Residents may be pleased that its not going up by 13% by I bet they would be a lot happier if it was going down!

So where the Courier merely reporting badly what the Town Council said about the increase? Or where they saying we are pleased its not going up by the same as previus years. This is the second year running when we are in a Council Tax freeze period Crowborough Town Council have increased their precept.

Shame that most residents in Crowborough cant be bothered to get involved so won't complain.

Its rather like being asked do you want your arm or leg chopped off whilst not mentioning the option of keeping all limbs intact.
A Town Council Tax increase of nearly 15% over 2 years is simply unacceptable but short of storming a council meeting with pitchforks and a length of rope what can people do to protest about it.
As you say most people in the town are not bothered and the unelected council take this apathy as a green light to do whatever they like.
Until the residents stick together and face down the council on this and many other issues nothing will change.
