Does anyone know who is responsible for the passageway which cuts from the carpark behind Waitrose to Croft Road? The lamp-post has been bent and out of order for months, the footpath is steep and covered with leaves which are treacherous when wet and there is often a good scattering of dog mess, broken glass and litter. We have had female customers say that they are terrified of walking up there in the dark. Something needs to be done about this appalling state of affairs before someone either falls and hurts themselves or is attacked.

It's Council owned so suppose it will be the responsibility of one of the following 3 - Crowborough Town Council / Wealden / or East Sussex!
Good luck in getting an answer immediately

The chance of anyone being attacked are almost next to zero. Crowborough has a ridiculously low crime rate and the fear of crime is a much bigger problem than crime itself. One problem with 24 News is that the media have to fill those news programmes and of course bad news attracts more viewers than good news. So please reassure people that the chances of getting attacked are so low.

Of course issues of leaves, dogmess, glass etc are something else. It does amaze me how many people fail to clear up after their dog, its not exactly difficult to carry a bag and grab the mess when it is made.

It may well be that the chance of being attacked is minimal, but it only takes one person to decide to grab someone's handbag. There have been a number of cases of 'bag dipping' in the town in recent years and so, therefore, if not beyond the realms of reason to suspect this could happen in a badly lit passageway. There are often 'dodgy' looking types loitering near the old toilet block. And this does not negate the fact the nothing has been done about the broken lamp-post.

Dogmess is a minor issue in comparisson, but impossible to avoid if you cannot see the pavement. The leaves and broken glass are a major hazard, especially given the number of elderly people who live in Crowborough. It also does not give a good impression of the town in general.

Maybe in the interim suggest they walk the extra hundred yards and use the main entrance.
