Hi All,
Firstly apolgoies if this is an oft asked question by new visitors to the site (and town)...
We are just about to put an offer on a property in Crowborough but we dont know the area particualrly well. We are going to commute to London daily (a bit of a trek but to be in Crowborough it will be worth it) and were wondering about parking near the station and experiences of train travel to and from London in general from Crowborough. The place we are looking to move to is just that bit too far to walk daily (20-25 mins by the looks of things) but we were hoping that there may be a 5 minute drive to park within a 5 minute walk of the station. Is the parking residential/free, impossible to get a space unless you arrive first thing, hideously expensive or not a problem at all?? The station itself appears to have next to know spaces...

What do commuters that live at the top of Crowborough Hill or in the Warren area do?!

Any help or guidance would be gratefully received.

Kindest Regards

eb

The station car parking is nuts. It's £3.80 a day in the carpark. Around the streets there is free no permit parking but a lot of the free parking is filled ahead of the 6.46am train.

You won't find too many people willing to share where they park because secret spaces are fiercly protected :-)

The service although not that regular is pretty reliable. The first train of the day is only a two car (long story) but does get you into London at a sensible time.

There is a bus service from the station, think it meets most trains these days, but you'll need to check which way round the town it goes as it alternates. It will serve the top of Crowborough Hill I think. The Warren is not walking distance of the station and is not served by buses either I believe. From The Warren I guess some people will drive to Eridge station, where the parking is cheaper than Crowborough but the on-street parking creates total chaos.

The peak hour trains are heaving, but significantly cheaper then Tunbridge Wells and as said the service is generally reliable.

Apart from last night when they started engineering works early and ran that ridiculous bus back from Oxted. 1 hour 30 from Birmingham to London, 1 hour 45 from London Bridge to Crowborough.

I ranted all the way up and was delighted to see a Southern Rail 'meet the managers day' I vented and got it all off my chest.

The bus won't wait for the train though and costs almost as much to get up the hill as the parking!
