CROWBOROUGH schools competed for the coveted Great Servomex Egg Race trophy at Beacon Community College.
Year 7 Beacon students faced 12 local primary schools in the 20th year of the science competition and were keen to retain the title.
This year the science challenge saw the pupils given the scenario of stranded animals in a Kenyan nature reserve.
Their task was to translate a nature reserve sign, make a mask to disguise themselves so the animals would not be scared and make a crane-like arm to lift food to the animals.
The winners were a team from Jarvis Brook Primary School – Harry Smith, Alex Homer and William Bath.
